Trails
o Bill Nicholls Trails are multi-use trails for ATVs, snowmobiles, and off-road vehicles
o Trail 3 is the main trail that all trails can be accessed directly from The Lodge
o It runs directly along the waterfront through downtown and is paved all the way to Nara Nature Park.
o Michigan Tech Trails are accessible on the Michigan Tech campus, near the baseball fields
o During the winter, these trails are used for snowshoeing and skate/cross-country skiing
o During the summer, these trails are used for walking, running, or biking
o Nara Trail is a 4,500-foot-long elevated wood boardwalk running along both banks of the Pilgrim River. This boardwalk has fishing sites, benches, and access to launching kayaks and canoes.
Parks/Golf
o Houghton City Park (Kestner Park -Chutes and Ladders), directly across the canal. Live music and events are ongoing in the summer months. Kayak and bike rentals are available there.

O Nara Nature Park is located two miles east of the Michigan Tech University campus at the east end of the Houghton Waterfront Trail. The Nara Nature Park is linked to the Michigan Tech University trails with a combination of over 50 miles of trails for hiking, running, biking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Kayak/canoe launch and river access are located on the Pilgrim River.
